Putting the office and the field on the same page.

EyeOnTask helps businesses that run plumbers, electricians and technicians handle service requests, dispatching and invoicing in one platform. I led the redesign of the web and mobile apps so everyone, from the Super Admin to the fieldworker, works from one live job pipeline.

Overview

More field teams are going digital. Most of them inherit the chaos.

Field service businesses are digitising faster than ever. For a company managing plumbers, electricians and technicians, that means more revenue, but also more operational mess spread across disconnected tools, chat apps and spreadsheets.

EyeOnTask replaces that mess with one platform for service requests, dispatching and invoicing. My job was to make that platform feel like one product to every person who touches a job.

The problem

A disconnected pipeline.

When a job was dispatched, the Team Leader had no idea if the fieldworker had started it. Fieldworkers got job details scattered across WhatsApp messages and paper slips.

Invoicing was always late, because the back office only learned a job was done when end-of-day reports came in. There was no single source of truth, so everyone worked in silos.

The biggest bottleneck wasn't the work. It was the gap between the office and the field.

The solution

One job module, synced for every role.

I designed a single Job Module that keeps Super Admins, Team Leaders and Fieldworkers on the same record in real time. Each step of a job's life fixes one specific breakdown.

01

Creation & assignment

Problem

Fieldworkers got vague job details by text message, which led to miscommunication and late arrivals.

Solution

Admins and Team Leaders create a job and assign it to an available fieldworker in one step. Location, task details and client history travel with the job card.

02

Real-time status sync

Problem

The back office kept calling technicians to ask whether a job had started or finished.

Solution

Fieldworkers update status (In Progress, On Hold, Completed) on the job itself. The manager and the owner see the change instantly because everyone shares the same pipeline.

03

Job details & time tracking

Problem

Hours were logged on manual timesheets, which were easy to get wrong.

Solution

A timer on the job details screen tracks hours as the work happens, and feeds straight into billing so invoices can be generated automatically.

04

Instant invoicing

Problem

Invoices sat for days while managers waited for paper reports to reach the office.

Solution

When a job is marked Completed, the Team Leader is notified and can send the invoice right away, closing the gap between finishing the work and getting paid.
